Memory loss not always Alzheimer's

As we babyboomers advance in age, many of us share an anxiety -getting Alzheimer's disease. We joke about senior moments. We blametemporary forgetfulness on our detail-flooded lifestyles. We inventmemory jokes.

In reality, the vast majority of us will not experiencesignificant cognitive decline.

Any declines we may observe typically will be very modest,reports Consumer Reports on Health.

Certainly, Alzheimer's and other dementias of age are serious,frightening diseases.

But recent findings are enabling researchers and physicians tobetter understand their causes and, I hope, lessen the stigma.
