LATE START DERAILS LOBBYING ADVISORY PANEL'S WORK.(CAPITAL REGION)

ALBANY -- A panel on lobbying has disbanded without making substantive suggestions on how a new law affecting local governments should work.

The Advisory Council on Municipal Lobbying was supposed to suggest by Oct. 1 ways to implement a new law that will monitor the activities of those who try to influence large city, town, village and county governments.

The lack of action is a setback to attempts to monitor the lobbyists and has led to suggestions that the effective date of the law, already delayed by 15 months, be pushed back even further.
